Payment
Payment must be made in full on the day of your visit. Please make all cheques payable to Running Deep Ltd (you will be charged for the number of pupils and paying adults who arrive on the day, minimum cost for a workshop is £60). Please note that we are unable to invoice.
Special Educational Needs
Our qualified Learning Centre team are available to discuss the most appropriate learning sessions for special needs groups. It is possible, with sufficient notice, to modify most learning sessions to meet individual requirements.
Risk Assessment
We conduct our own risk assessments and provide guidance for teachers which can be downloaded by clicking here, but we do encourage teachers to make a preview visit before bringing a group.
Teacher Preview Visits
In order to make the most of your school visit we recommend that you take advantage of one of our free teacher preview visits to familiarise yourself with the exhibits and our facilities. Bring a letter from your Head Teacher, on school headed paper, confirming that you wish to carry out a preview visit/risk assessment for your school. Present this at the reception and they will issue a complimentary ticket (one ticket per class visiting).
Video conferencing for pupils
School Groups which are booked into The Deep for a visit may enjoy chatting with one of our Guides before we open in a morning. Standing in front of the main tank window, a Guide can provide a Q&A sessopm together with a mini presentiaon about the animals on view. This facility is suitable as a pre-visit activity or after the visit has taken place. Schools located too far from The Deep to visit may also benefit from a remote look at the animals. Please ask for more information.
We suggest you allow at least 3 hours for your visit, which includes a workshop and entry into the visitor attraction. If you wish to include lunch and a visit to our gift shop, please add on extra time.
The price of £5.00* per pupil includes:
- Free teacher preview visit (one teacher per class visiting)

- Free on-site coach parking
- Entry into The Deep
- Your choice of education workshop
- Packed lunch area and secure bag storage (by arrangement)
- Free teacher places of 1:6 primary school and 1:10 secondary schools and colleges
- Additional adult places cost £7.50
*Please note that the price will be £6 per pupil in June and July only. These 2 months are exceptionally busy and we limit the number of classes to avoid overcrowding. Please choose other months if at all possible.

How to Book
Please call the Education Team on 01482 381000 (option 3) to check availability and book to your visit.
Please have the following details to hand:
- Date(s) of your visit
- Name of school, telephone and fax details
- Contact name (lead teacher)
- Number of children, key stage and year
The Education Team will fax or email a booking form to you. Please complete and return the completed form. Once we have received this, you will be sent a letter confirming your visit with costs and an itinerary.
The Deep Shop
A wide variety of marine themed gifts are available from our large gift shop with items from 25p upwards. For schools wishing to bypass the shop we can arrange goodie bags (from £2.70) or simply shark grabbers at £1.20. Please order before your visit.
