The Deep - The World's Only Submarium

Special Events 2007-2008

Hands-On Maths 10-14th November 2008

Join us for a week of puzzles, challenges and games designed to promote creative approaches to mathematics and strategic thinking.  Using the marine environment as inspiration, The Deep’s teachers have developed workshops suitable for key stage 1, 2 and 3 pupils.

Daily Dive Show

Join us in the Endless Oceans gallery from 2 pm* for the dive show and shark feed. This is a spectacular chance to see our divers in the main tank, with commentary by the guides.  This popular event is also open to the public.

*From time to time the show may be delayed or cancelled due to operational constraints.

Humber Environment Fair

2nd- 6th June 2008
In partnership with the Environment Agency, The Deep is proud to host the 2nd Humber Environment Fair. This event celebrates World Environment Day and World Ocean Day and includes displays, demonstrations, workshops and activities for all ages. Please note there are likely to be funded places for educational visits during this week. Contact us for further information.

Sleepovers at The Deep

Come and join us for a night of fun-filled activities, guided tours and a chance to sleep just inches away from the sharks. For primary schools with a sense of adventure! We also run sleepovers for Brownies, Cubs and other out of school clubs for primary age children.
Call 01482 381091 for more details.

Free Education Places

Occasionally, through funding, we are able to offer free school places. One class per school will be considered, but any schools that have previously visited free of charge will not be eligible.

The current funding is available for EIC schools planning a Key Stage 2 Science visit and aims to increase understanding of corals, particularly Lophelia, our native species. Pupils will be able to find out more about the conservation of British coral reefs and will also take part in the ‘Secret Volcano Garden’ workshop, which takes a look at the amazing coral animal and its environment.

Places will be available for the Autumn 2007 and Spring 2008 terms only. Please contact Diane Porter at diane.porter@thedeep.co.uk to reserve your place.
