The Deep - The World's Only Submarium

Research

The Deep is committed to carrying out high quality research into the conservation of the world's oceans.

This is achieved through both in house projects and collaborative projects.

The Deep’s team are actively involved in researching a number of marine related subjects but all relate to animal conservation. Whenever possible the research that is carried out will be published in order that the knowledge gained can be disseminated as widely as possible.

The Deep actively participates in a number of national and international conferences, seminars and workshops and staff from The Deep have presented at these conferences frequently in recent years.

Senior husbandry staff of The Deep are also very active on the European and international stage of zoo and aquarium conservation and we participate in many of the conservation initiatives administered by the European Union of Aquarium Curators EUAC) Fish and Aquatic Invertebrate Taxon Advisory Groups (FAITAG).

The Deep is a proud supporter of the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) Turtle tagging project. The Deep has sponsored the tagging of a Green Turtle called Daisy and her progress can be tracked on the MCS website.  The Marine Conservation Society is offering you a way to help make sure that these wonderful animals survive the 21st Century and long into the future.  By purchasing a beautifully presented Adopt-a-turtle pack you can help to provide vital funds for turtle conservation projects.
