The Deep is an educational and environmental charity showcasing over 3,500 fish including sharks and rays. Each year over 30,000 primary and high school pupils visit The Deep aquarium and the purpose built learning centre. Workshops, presentations and hands-on activities are delivered to groups from pre-school pupils to post sixteen.

Our qualified teachers have created a learning programme encompassing a broad range of subjects raising awareness of the marine environment. All sessions are closely referenced to the National Curriculum.

Food chains, caring for the marine environment, predator-prey relationships, adaptations and habitats are some of the themes covered in the range of key stage 1 and 2 Science sessions. Art & Design, English and Maths workshops are also available as is a Geography guided walk along the waterside at The Deep examining the human effect on the landscape and rivers.

Key stage 3 and 4 workshops include Science, Maths, Geography and Art & Design.

The Deep’s management team give vocational presentations covering Customer Care, Marketing and Travel & Tourism. Our scientists deliver talks on The Science of Diving and The Deep’s Water Treatment Process.
