Join us on the 11th & 12th October for Super Seagrass Weekend!
At this year’s Seagrass Festival, the Wilder Humber team will not be asking visitors to create seagrass seed bags for planting into the estuary, due to a lower number of viable seagrass seeds collected from the donor meadow at Spurn Point. As a result, the team need to ensure that all collected seeds are carefully looked after and stored in the lab at Spurn in a cool environment.
This is the first year they’ve experienced a reduced number of viable seeds, and while they’re not yet certain of the cause, it may be linked to the prolonged warmer weather over the summer.
Instead, visitors are invited to make their own wildflower seed bags to take home and plant. The team will demonstrate the same creation method used for the seagrass restoration work!
Take part in interactive presentations and workshops at 11am, 1pm and 3pm daily.
The Super Seagrass Weekend event is included in standard ticket entry. No additional booking is required. Visitors are advised to book a timeslot in advance of their visit.
