Are you open?
Yes. The Deep is now back open from 9am until 6pm on weekends and during school holidays. We are open 10am until 6pm Monday to Friday during term time. You must book an online time for your arrival here.
Will you be extending Day Plus Passes?
Yes. We are extending all current, valid Day Plus Passes by the length of time you have missed out on during closure, to ensure you don’t miss out.
Will you be restricting the number of visitors?
Yes. We will be restricting the number of visitors every day to ensure that our building remains safe and social distancing guidelines can be adhered to. All tickets will have to be booked online (including Day Plus Pass holders). You will be able to choose a timeslot for your arrival when you book online.
Will all of your daily activities still be on?
Our daily schedule will be amended to ensure a safe visit for everyone. To avoid crowds gathering we will be unable to present the feeds, touch pools and dive shows so these will be suspended for now. However our guiding team will be delivering talks throughout the day about our animals and the conservation work we do.
Do I have to book?
Yes. Whether or not you are paying or using your Day Plus Pass, we need all visitors to book via the website so we can adhere to Government guidelines in relation to social distancing and limit the number of people in the building. This will be continually reviewed as Government advice is updated. The time you book is your arrival time (or within half an hour after this time), for example if you book 10:30am, please arrive any time from 10:30am to 11am. You may need to queue for a short time on arrival so we can control numbers entering the building. There is no time limit once in the attraction, but we will have a one-way system so please don’t retrace your steps or go round the aquarium a second time.
Will your shop be open?
Yes our Deep’artment Store will be open to visitors to The Deep only. In accordance with Government rules, all those who visit the gift shop will be required to wear a face covering. This does not apply to those currently excluded from having to wear a face covering according to current guidelines. Please check for more information here.
The Deep’artment Store will not be open to those not visiting the aquarium. However, we have a wide range of products available on our online shop, which can be posted directly to you, or if you know the product you are looking for but cannot see it on the website, please contact us and we can arrange this for you. www.thedeep.co.uk/online-shop
Will your opening hours remain the same as before?
No. The Deep is open daily from 9am until 6pm on weekends and during school holidays. We are open 10am until 6pm Monday to Friday during term time. This will be continually reviewed as Government advice is updated.
Will we need to wear face coverings to visit The Deep?
As per the Government announcement on 31st July, face coverings will be mandatory within indoor attractions from 8th August. Please check current Government advice regarding exemptions and bring a face covering on your visit if you are required to wear one.
Please note: visors are not an adeuqate replacement for a face covering. We cannot allow entry without a face covering that is secured around the nose and mouth.

How do I book a timeslot if I have a Day Plus Pass?
Enter the code DPP2020 in the promo code box BEFORE you select the tickets you need. Then, press submit code. Next, enter how many DPP holders will be attending. (You can also add any tickets you may be paying for too.) Our reception team will need to validate your pass on arrival so please come prepared with the name and postcode it was originally set up in. Please note, if your Day Plus Pass has expired you will need to pay for entry on arrival.
How do I book a carer ticket?
Enter the code DPP2020 in the promo code box then press ‘submit code’. Next, in the DPP holder’s box, enter how many carers are attending (one per paying visitor.) Purchase the rest of your tickets as normal below, including the visitor with a disability.
How do I book a timeslot if I am using Tesco vouchers?
Enter the code DPP2020 in the promo code box then press ‘submit code’. Next, in the DPP holders box, enter how many people are attending, whether children, adults or seniors. You can omit under 3s. Bring the vouchers on the day and hand to our reception team. Please note, we cannot give change for Tesco vouchers but you can make up the difference with cash or card payment at reception.
How do I book a timeslot if I am using gift vouchers?
Enter the code DPP2020 in the promo code box then press ‘submit code’. Next, in the DPP holders box, enter how many people are attending, whether children, adults or seniors. You can omit under 3s. Bring the vouchers on the day and hand to our reception team. We can give change or you can make up the difference with cash or card payment.
How do I book a timeslot if I am using an unused online booking from pre-closure?
Enter the code DPP2020 in the promo code box then press ‘submit code’. Next, in the DPP holders box, enter how many people are attending, whether children, adults or seniors. You can omit under 3s. Then bring your original booking email to show at reception.
How do I book a timeslot if I am using a Yorkshire Attractions voucher or pass?
Enter the code DPP2020 in the promo code box then press ‘submit code’. Next, in the DPP holders box, enter how many people are attending, whether children, adults or seniors. You can omit under 3s. Then bring the vouchers / pass on the day and hand / show on your phone to reception. You will then need to pay at the desk with card or cash (if using vouchers).
Can I still use the accessible entrance?
Yes. If you or a member of your party has a disability please use the accessible entrance as normal. Please be mindful of social distancing in the reception area if the main entrance has a queue.
How do I book a timeslot if I am using a raffle/competition ticket?
Enter the code DPP2020 in the promo code box then press ‘submit code’. Next, in the DPP holders box, enter how many people are attending, whether children, adults or seniors. You can omit under 3s. Then bring the tickets with you on the day and enter through the main entrance. You may need to queue here so we can control numbers entering the building.
How do I pay for parking?
Payment for parking is required on arrival and is £3 for 6 hours. Our car park machines take coins, so if you would rather not use these you can pay for your parking at reception when collecting entry tickets.
Will your toilets be open?
Yes. All toilets will be open, but will be closed regularly throughout the day for an increased cleaning schedule. Please ask a member of staff for the nearest toilets available. We appreciate your cooperation and patience to socially distance within our facilities.
Will your Changing Places facility be open?
Yes. The Changing Places facility will be open as normal, with entry using a radar key. As with all the toilets, it will also subject to an increased cleaning schedule meaning it will be closed off temporarily throughout the day.
Will your picnic area be open?
For now, the indoor picnic area will be closed, however there are picnic benches out the front of the building.
Will there be hand sanitiser?
Yes. We will have hand sanitiser stations throughout the building along the one way system.
Will the play area be open?
Unfortunately, we are unable to open the play area at this time due to Government guidelines. We have removed all play equipment so as not to upset any little ones!
Will all the interactives be available?
Yes our interactive stations will be open to use including Digi:sea and the magic floor at Discovery Corner. All touch points will be cleaned regularly. Please be mindful you may need to wait to use interactives or view exhibits to maintain social distancing, and please ensure you sanitise your hands regularly.
Can I book a group visit?

Can I book a VIP experience?
For the time being, we will not be offering VIP Experiences. If you have an existing booking for a VIP experience, we will contact you with further details.
Will Tranquil Tuesday still happen?

Can I bring luggage for you to store?
Unfortunately we cannot look after any items of luggage or prams. Please only bring what you can carry around with you.
What about weddings and events?
Whilst we continue to follow Government guidelines in respect to social distancing and gatherings, we are continuing to take enquiries and conduct virtual meetings for corporate events, private hire and weddings.

Do you offer electric car charging points?
Yes. We offer FREE electric car charge points for our customers between the hours of 10am and 6pm. After this time, they are turned off.
Can I have my child’s birthday party at The Deep?
The Deep is unable to host birthday parties, however we do offer some additional services that would help to make a birthday visit more special. These can be found in the ‘Deep Experiences – Birthday Visits’ section of our website.
Can I do work experience or volunteer at The Deep?
The Deep accepts work experience students and volunteers, subject to availability and certain criteria being met. There is more information about what we can offer and how to apply for opportunities on the ‘School Trips – Student Placements’ section of the website.
I bought my tickets online but wasn’t able to/can longer come on the date that I booked for?
You will need to book a timeslot online here and use the code DPP2020 promo codes. You will then need to bring your original email and reference code so we can find your payment on our system.
Do you offer any animal encounters at The Deep?
Unfortunately our dive shows, penguin feed and touch pool sessions are suspended until further notice.
How do I apply for a job at The Deep?
Job vacancies are advertised in the ‘Our Ethos – Working for Us’ section of the website, roles can then be applied for online or by collecting an application form in person from reception. Vacancies will also promoted on our social media channels
Can my child visit The Deep by themselves?
All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times when visiting The Deep.
I booked my tickets online but haven’t received my e-mail confirmation. What do I do?
If you have not received an e-mail with your booking reference after one hour, please call us on 01482 381000 (option 3). Occasionally bookings may fail if there is a delay in your bank authorising the transaction.
I'm having a problem booking a timeslot online
A few things to try if you are experiencing problems when adding a timeslot to your basket:
• Try emptying your basket and starting again
• Clear your browsing history and cache in your browser
• Sometimes an error will occur if a timeslot only has one space left on it, please try a different timeslot first and if the problem persists, give us a call on 01482 381000 and we can tell you how many spaces are left within each timeslot.
I am organising a fund raising event, would The Deep be able to donate something?
Unfortunately, we are not currently in a position to be able to provide free tickets for Charity events however we are working on a new scheme which we hope to launch soon. Please keep an eye on our website for further details.
Can I bring my dog into The Deep?
Guide and assistance dogs are permitted into the exhibition, any other dogs are not. The Deep does not permit dogs being left in cars whilst parked onsite.
Do you have any discounts for visitors with additional needs?
No. However if a visitor requires an essential carer The Deep will admit the carer free of charge on a 1:1 basis. For full details on access at The Deep see the Access For All section.
