The Observatory Café

Situated on the 3rd floor, with great views over the Humber, The Observatory Café is open from 10am to 5.30pm every day (except 24th and 25th December when The Deep is closed). It serves hot breakfasts (until 11.30am), a range of hot meals and salads (until 3pm), plus snacks, cakes, sandwiches and hot and cold drinks. Children's meals and special dietary requirements are all catered for. Tables that have been raised for easier wheelchair access are also available within this café. There is a baby feeding station located in this café with bottle and food warming facilities. You don’t need an entry ticket to visit the café. To view Castaways Cafe menu click here.

Halfway Café

Open during peak periods the Halfway Café is located in the exhibition (next to the Cool Seas). It serves a variety of sandwiches, hot and cold snacks and drinks.

Picnic Areas

We have picnic benches located outside of the visitor attraction and a small picnic place area in the exhibition (next to Cool Seas). We cannot guarantee you will always find a table as this area may be used by school parties. We offer a baby warming station in this area.

Babies and Toddlers

We offer a baby food station (with bottle and food warming) in the Castaways café. There are also changing units available in all toilets and lift access is available to all levels of the exhibition.

Gift Shop

Our on-site shop, The 'Deepartment Store', is open from 10am to 6pm seven days a week (excluding 24th and 25th December when The Deep is closed). Here you can find a huge range of souvenirs and gifts as well as a great range of books, soft toys, stationery, pottery and clothing. You don’t need an entry ticket to visit the shop.

Opening Times

  • Open daily from 10am until 6pm. We are closed on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
  • Last admission is at 5pm, although we recommended you to arrive no later than 4pm
  • The Deep’s peak times are between 11am – 2pm, should you prefer a quieter environment please visit outside these times.
  • Car parking is available costing £3 for six hours. It can become full during school holidays. Alternative car parks can be found here

Public transport information

Safety Update

The Deep takes the safety and security of its staff and visitors seriously and continue to work with Counter Terrorism Police Officers to review security regimes on a regular basis. Whilst the details of such plans cannot be shared we have in place measures to respond to changes in the threat levels for international terrorism. In light of recent events the security within the building and external spaces has been reviewed.

For the safety and reassurance of visitors, The Deep reserves the right to carry out random bag searches at reception. To avoid delays, please avoid bringing large bags and rucksacks.
