- Blue spotted ribbontail ray
Did you know?
Diet
They feed on mollusks, worms, shrimps and crabs.
Fun fact
They use specialised sensory organs to detect the electrical field of its prey, even when it’s hiding under the sand!
Habitat
They are found in coral reef habitats where they feed when the tide goes in, and shelter in caves and ledges when it goes out.
This colourful stingray has bright blue spots on its disc, with blue side-stripes along the tail. Their bright colours deter would be predators. They don’t lay eggs, instead females give birth to pups that have hatched from eggs inside her uterus. They can have up to seven pups at one time.
