- Gentoo penguin
Did you know?
Diet
Ranging between 50 and 90cms in height, these penguins eat fish, squid, krill and other crustaceans.
Fun fact
Gentoo penguins gather in colonies of anything from 30 to a few thousand animals during the breeding season.
Habitat
Garter snakes F13weren't thought to be venomous, but recent studies show they do produce a mild venom.
"Gentoo penguins have a bluish-black plumage on their back and white plumage on the belly. It can be easily recognized by wide white strap on top of the black head that stretches to the eyes. They have an orange-red bill, paddle-shaped flippers, light-pink webbed feet, streamlined body and relatively long, brush-like tail. Gentoo penguins only breed in areas free of snow and ice. Cleanliness is key. If the previous year’s nesting area is covered with waste or too trampled, they'll move somewhere else along the coastline."
