- Green sawfish
Did you know?
Diet
Sawfish feed primarily on fish and prawns.
Fun fact
They can live for up to 50 years!
Habitat
They're found in the Indo-West Pacific swimming in the open marine water.
Sawfish reach maturity when they're 9 years old and have litters of around 12 pups. Their teeth are unevenly spaced along the rostrum, and they have on average 24 to 28 pairs. Fishing is the primary threat to Green Sawfish as their rostrum or nose can easily get tangled and caught in fishing nets. Significant benefits have been gained through educating fishermen in how to safely release trapped sawfish from their nets.
