Did you know?
The Lipstick tang, also known as the orange spine tang or the Threadfin butterfly fish feed mainly on leafy brown algae.
When they feel threatened they'll flip their tail, exposing a modified scale said to be as sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel!
They're found in the Pacific ocean in areas of coral, rock, or rubble of lagoon and seaward reefs.
Lipstick tangs are able to quickly change their colour in response to their environment or mood. If they're excited or when they're hiding in the reef they can turn almost black in colour.
