The Deep’s 3rd floor gallery will play home to a thought provoking series of artworks from six artists in 2017, all with a marine theme.

Nick is a British artist who specialises in contemporary marine and wildlife art.

Growing up among a family of divers, his passion for the sea and its creatures grew during holidays to destinations by the Red Sea, Caribbean Sea, Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

Nick's stunning works have been highly acclaimed by collectors and the Press, appearing in Sport Diver magazine, Marlin, Crest magazine. He has been selected as a finalist in the International Wildlife Artist of the Year Competition every year since 2010, winning the "Into the Blue" category in 2016.

Look Up: Washed up Car-go by Chris Dobrowolski

Dates:
March 29, 2017 - June 4, 2017

We are delighted to be co-commissioning a series of artworks around the city in partnership with Hull 2017.

Look Up is a year-long programme of temporary artworks made for the city’s public spaces and places. Each piece is unique and will take place within different seasons of the Hull 2017 programme. All have taken as their inspiration and starting point the work, people and location of The Deep.

For the Made in Hull season, Chris Dobrowolski will be bringing the beach of the Humber to the car park of The Deep. Featuring Hull landscapes and plastic toys, his new installation looks at environmental concerns around plastics and our oceans. Not all the cars parked there will belong to visitors to The Deep, and their contents may surprise you…

Chris Dobrowolski studied at the Hull School of Art, and spent most of his time building different vehicles to escape. He’s somehow come full circle, but is very happy to be making work here in the city once again.

Find out more about what's happening in Hull this year on the Hull 2017 website.
