There are always lots of exciting events here at The Deep alongside daily talks, presentations and dive shows. Simply choose your month below to see what's on.

Daily highlights

Join us and enjoy an extensive programme of daily activities.

Dive show

This takes place at at 2pm each day at Endless Oceans (Monday to Friday), the Lagoon of Light (Saturday) and the Amazon Flooded Forest (Sunday). Watch the video of our divers feeding the sharks here. Please note: the dive shows taking place on Tuesday and Thursday in the Endless Oceans tank are cleaning only. The animals are fed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Touchpool Sessions

Handle some of our smaller species native to the UK at Dylans Discovery Corner including starfish, velvet swimmer crabs and sea urchins. These sessions take place at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Make sure you also try your hand at fossil brushing in this area as well as testing your skills on the interactive magic floor. 

Penguin Feeding

See our keepers hand feed the loveable Gentoo penguins in the Kingdom of Ice at 11.30am and 3.30pm every day. This is accompanied by a talk on the lower level of the enclosure, just through the ice tunnel, by one of our Guides who will explain more about the penguin's feeding and behaviour, as well as threats faced to penguins in the wild. 

Deep Experience

The Deep 1 to 1 Experience is a morning with a difference for those with a love of the marine world.

Get hands on and help The Deep crew with a series of day to day activities as well as seeing behind the scenes. Experience days are ideal for youngsters with a passion for the marine world or those looking at getting into a Marine Biology career, but are also perfect for adults with an interest in aquaria. The Deep Experience is suitable for participants aged 8 and above. Exact details are dependent on participant age.

Puzzling Penguins

It’s time for penguin fun at The Deep this February half term. Follow the puzzling penguin trail and solve the clues as you make your way around the attraction.

Make your own penguin ID bracelet, just like our very own penuguins' wear and hear all about what our special bracelet codes mean. Find out more about what our loveable residents get up in our daily talks, dive shows, touch pool sessions, feeds and more!

Little Nippers

Don’t get crabby, come to little nippers at The Deep! Join us on Tuesday mornings 9:30am-11:00am for our fun-filled discovery and play sessions for children aged 2 and under.

Enjoy sing-a-long and story time in the soft play area along with a light snack.

Simply pay standard adult admission once (£13.50) then visit with your little nipper as many times as you like for FREE for 12 months. This includes all visits to the aquarium too!

No need to pre-book simply turn up on the day!

Please note: Spaces are limited and sessions operate on a first come, first served basis.

With a special interest in fish ecology, he uses his images as a tool for research, conservation and education. His photos have been published in exhibitions, newspapers, magazines and both national and international books. Nuno is the author of the book, Marine Fishes of Portugal and co-author of two books about marine fauna, one of which is currently being finalised (Marine Fishes of São Tomé & Principe, Africa).

The gallery is free to view on the 3rd floor of the aquarium. 

Tranquil Tuesdays

Join us on the first Tuesday of each month (TERM TIME ONLY) for Tranquil Tuesdays. From 3pm until closing the lights will be brighter and the audio turned down, creating a tranquil environment for our visitors.

This event is perfect for those who prefer to visit during a quieter and more peaceful environment. Everyone is welcome to attend. Normal admission rates apply and there is no need to book. 

We have a range of aids available to hire free of charge for visitors with access needs including ear defenders, Braille guides, large print guides, MP3 audio guides, international language leaflets, rollators, electric mobility scooters and wheelchairs. Mothering Sunday (at Two Rivers Restaurant)

Spoil your mum this Mothering Sunday with a delicious three course meal, surrounded by stunning marine life at Two Rivers Restaurant. An ideal treat!

Mum will be treated to a glass of prosecco on arrival before you all sit down and enjoy a wonderful three course dinner in the heart of the aquarium, in amongst some of the most marvellous animals of the ocean. Your meal will be rounded off with freshly brewed coffee and delicious hand-made macaroons.

Explore the exhibits on the restaurant floor between courses or after your meal; the table is yours for the whole evening so you can relax and enjoy your surroundings. 

Priced at £27.95 per person, this is the perfect way to celebrate your mum and all she does for you!

Opening Times

  • Open daily from 10am until 6pm
  • Last admission is at 5pm, although we recommended you to arrive no later than 4pm
  • We are closed on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
  • The Deep’s peak times are between 11am – 2pm, should you prefer a quieter environment please visit outside these times.
  • Car parking is available costing £3 for six hours. It can become full during school holidays. Alternative car parks can be found here.

Public transport information

Safety Update

The Deep takes the safety and security of its staff and visitors seriously and continue to work with Counter Terrorism Police Officers to review security regimes on a regular basis. Whilst the details of such plans cannot be shared we have in place measures to respond to changes in the threat levels for international terrorism. In light of recent events the security within the building and external spaces has been reviewed.
