CSI Seashore

Dates:
March 30, 2019 - April 28, 2019

We have plenty of fishy fun to keep your little ones entertained this Easter holidays. Join The Deep’s special agents as they take a trip to our native coastline to find out what can be uncovered at the seaside.

Help the CSI division discover who is the rockpool polluter in our fun-packed 'Who Dunnit' trail, lend a hand in the interactive presentation to find out who stole the shells at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and earn a CSI badge of your own.

Lend a hand in our interactive presentation at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, follow Inspector Sharky's trail and make your very own sand art (charge applies for our craft activity). 

See daily dive shows, penguin feeds, get up close in touch pool sessions, ride in the underwater lift and much more too.

Meat Free Friday

The increasingly popular Meat Free Friday is back for April 2019, with a fabulous new menu in tow!

Sample our delicious vegetarian and vegan menu, with two courses for just £25.95 or three courses for £29.95 located in the heart of the aquarium with stunning marine life. You can see the full menu here. Call us on 01482 382883 to book your table. 

Beach Clean

The Deep is on the lookout for volunteers for our first beach clean of 2019 at Hessle Foreshore. This event is free to attend.

This event is part of the Marine Conservation Society's (MCS) Beachwatch, a nationwide annual beach clean-up and litter survey organised which takes place on beaches all over the UK. Each piece of litter collected is identified, weighed and recorded before being carefully disposed of. The data collected goes towards the Marine Conservation Society’s national survey, which is subsequently used to help raise public awareness of the impact of litter on the environment. 

Suitable for children aged 3 upwards, this is a great way of helping your local environment. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult at all times and will receive a free goody bag for taking part. Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and sturdy footwear on the day. Gloves and hand sanitiser will be provided on the day.

Deep Experience

The Deep 1 to 1 Experience is a morning with a difference for those with a love of the marine world.

Get hands on and help The Deep crew with a series of day to day activities as well as seeing behind the scenes. Experience days are ideal for youngsters with a passion for the marine world or those looking at getting into a Marine Biology career, but are also perfect for adults with an interest in aquaria. The Deep Experience is suitable for participants aged 8 and above. Exact details are dependent on participant age - please click here to find out more and to book.

Little Nippers (term time only)

April 30, 2019

Don’t get crabby, come to little nippers on Tuesday mornings from 9:30am to 11am for our fun-filled discovery and play sessions.

Suitable for children aged 2 and under. Enjoy a sing-a-long and story time in The Deep’s soft play area. Pay admission to The Deep once, and receive a Day Plus Pass which entitles you to visit as often as you like for free. Booking is not required. Simply turn up on the day. 

Adults pay standard admission for 12 months entry, plus £1 per session for your little nipper!

Deep Experience

Wedding Open Night

Are you on the lookout for a unique wedding venue? Then why not bob on down to our next wedding preview evening on Wednesday 1 May from 7:00pm to 8:45pm.

This is a great opportunity to view our iconic venue with our dedicated events team on hand to provide information and advice on what we can offer you for your special day.

Our amazing ceremony and reception spaces will be styled by Style My Venue Hull so you can really get a feel for how your celebration could look.

Colours of the ocean

Is it better to blend in or stand out? Can looks be deceiving? Discover the wondrous world of colour and vision beneath the waves this May Bank Holiday.

Take part in the interactive presentation at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, and find out how marine animals use colour to impress, hunt and protect themselves. Join the Guides at craft corner and colour in your own flashy fish to turn into a badge from 11am to 4pm.

Tranquil Tuesday (term time only)

May 7, 2019

Join us on the first Tuesday of each month (TERM TIME ONLY) for Tranquil Tuesdays. From 3pm until closing the lights will be brighter and the audio turned down, creating a tranquil environment for our visitors.

This event is perfect for those who prefer to visit during a quieter and more peaceful environment. Everyone is welcome to attend. Normal admission rates apply and there is no need to book. 

We have a range of aids available to hire free of charge for visitors with access needs including ear defenders, Braille guides, large print guides, MP3 audio guides, international language leaflets, rollators, electric mobility scooters and wheelchairs. Junior Experience Day

FULLY BOOKED

Is your child aged between 8-11 with a passion for marine animals? Then join us for a fun-filled experience day where your youngster can help carry out some of The Deep’s daily activities.

Join a group a like-minded kids (two groups of up to 8) for a junior experience day where The Deep crew will lead you through a number of activities including:

  • touring the Cool Seas plant room and Turtle display preparation area
  • cleaning the exhibit acrylic
  • a touchpool session
  • trying on a dive kit and watching the dive show
  • taking part in a slime workshop
  • handling the cockroaches

Endangered Species Weekend

May 18, 2019 - May 19, 2019

It’s time to explore the work of the IUCN… the what, we hear you cry? Hear from our very own Captain Redlist on how The Deep is helping to save animals all around the globe.

Become a science detective and help the team decide which animals need the most help in the interactive show at 11am, 1pm and 3pm in Endless Ocean and earn your own Rockin' Redlister sticker.

Take part in the fun-packed trail around the aquarium, get your face painted in your favourite animal and grab a selfie at the photo station.

Opening Times

  • Open daily from 10am until 6pm. We are closed on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
  • Last admission is at 5pm, although we recommended you to arrive no later than 4pm
  • The Deep’s peak times are between 11am – 2pm, should you prefer a quieter environment please visit outside these times.
  • Car parking is available costing £3 for six hours. It can become full during school holidays. Alternative car parks can be found here

Public transport information

Safety Update

The Deep takes the safety and security of its staff and visitors seriously and continue to work with Counter Terrorism Police Officers to review security regimes on a regular basis. Whilst the details of such plans cannot be shared we have in place measures to respond to changes in the threat levels for international terrorism. In light of recent events the security within the building and external spaces has been reviewed.

For the safety and reassurance of visitors, The Deep reserves the right to carry out random bag searches at reception. To avoid delays, please avoid bringing large bags and rucksacks.
