Daily highlights

Join us and enjoy an extensive programme of daily activities.

Dive show

This takes place at at 2pm each day at Endless Oceans (Monday to Friday), the Lagoon of Light (Saturday) and the Amazon Flooded Forest (Sunday). Watch the video of our divers feeding the sharks here. Please note: the dive shows taking place on Tuesday and Thursday in the Endless Oceans tank are cleaning only. The animals are fed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Touchpool Sessions

Handle some of our smaller species native to the UK at Dylans Discovery Corner including starfish, velvet swimmer crabs and sea urchins. These sessions take place at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Make sure you also try your hand at fossil brushing in this area as well as testing your skills on the interactive magic floor.

Penguin Feeding

See our keepers hand feed the loveable Gentoo penguins in the Kingdom of Ice at 11.30am and 3.30pm every day. This is accompanied by a talk on the lower level of the enclosure, just through the ice tunnel, by one of our Guides who will explain more about the penguin's feeding and behaviour, as well as threats faced to penguins in the wild.

With a special interest in fish ecology, Nuno uses his images as a tool for research, conservation and education. His photos have been published in exhibitions, newspapers, magazines and both national and international books. He is the author of the book, Marine Fishes of Portugal and co-author of two books about marine fauna, one of which is currently being finalised (Marine Fishes of São Tomé & Principe, Africa). Nuno works as the Assistant Curator at Oceanário de Lisboa (Portugal) and researcher at MARE IPLeiria.

The gallery is free to view on the 3rd floor of the aquarium.

Slime Time!

Dates:
July 21, 2018 - September 2, 2018

It’s all about slime this summer at The Deep from 21 July to 2 September.

Join us at 11am, 1pm and 3pm for ‘The Slime Show’ where your little scientists can help with exciting experiments as we explore which animals use slime in their everyday lives. There’s props galore, and of course, lots of gooey green stuff. And if that’s not enough, you can even make your own pot of slime (12-4pm) to take home for just £1 – the question is, what colour will yours be? Don’t forget to take a picture at the mad scientist photo board too and share it with us at #thedeephull.

UPDATE: We want to reassure you ahead of our summer activities that our slime is perfectly safe! The Boron levels in the slime at The Deep are well below the EU Limits – similar levels are actually contained in toothpaste! (although we don't recommend brushing your teeth with slime!) We have made thousands of pots of slime at the Deep over the years with no adverse affects. We hope to see you during the summer holidays for safe slimy fun!
