There are always lots of exciting events here at The Deep alongside daily talks, presentations and dive shows. Simply choose your month below to see what's on.

Daily highlights

Join us and enjoy an extensive programme of daily activities.

Dive show

This takes place at at 2pm each day at Endless Oceans (Monday to Friday), the Lagoon of Light (Saturday) and the Amazon Flooded Forest (Sunday). Watch the video of our divers feeding the sharks here. Please note: the dive shows taking place on Tuesday and Thursday in the Endless Oceans tank are cleaning only. The animals are fed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Touchpool sessions

Handle some of our smaller species native to the UK at Dylans Discovery Corner including starfish, velvet swimmer crabs and sea urchins. These sessions take place at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Make sure you also try your hand at fossil brushing in this area as well as testing your skills on the interactive magic floor. 

Penguin feeding

See our keepers hand feed the loveable Gentoo penguins in the Kingdom of Ice at 11.30am and 3.30pm every day. This is accompanied by a talk on the lower level of the enclosure, just through the ice tunnel, by one of our Guides who will explain more about the penguin's feeding and behaviour, as well as threats faced to penguins in the wild. 

Turtle-y Awesome Summer

It’s going to be a turtle-y awesome summer here at The Deep, so make sure you don’t miss out!

Get hands on in our very own ‘turtle hospital’ where youngsters can get up close with a giant turtle (a cuddly one, of course) and find out what it takes to look after our flipper-ed friends. Learn all about turtle anatomy and even help the team carry out a turtle health check. Inspect their eyes, nose and mouth, as well as checking their flippers and shell then report back to us on your vet examination form.

Take part in the turtle trail and find out about more about the species that live all around the world and the challenges they face.

Enjoy interactive presentations from our guiding team at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and get your face painted in Craft Corner from 11am to 4pm. Plus we will be giving you the chance the put your questions to our Turtle Keepers via our Facebook page each week. So get your thinking caps on! 

Visitors to the turtle hospital will also receive exciting discounts in the shop, so it’s the perfect time to take home your own cuddly turtle to care for.

VIP Experience

Our brand new VIP Deep Experience is here with lots of added extras! Thanks to your feedback, we have created an awesome new package for you to enjoy.

This session is a morning with a difference for those with a love of the marine world. Get hands on and help The Deep crew care for our animals. All participants will get hands on behind the scenes with our team of experts and even get the chance to feed a grey reef shark.

Perfect for adults and youngsters (age 8 and above) this is an ideal taster for those looking at getting into a Marine Biology career of for those who simply have a passion for marine life. Our staff will guide you through the experience to ensure you get the most out of the day. You my even get lucky and bump into a diver of two, so keep your eyes peeled!

Experiences are available for 2, 3 or 4 people. Packages for 2 people cost £165, for 3 people £235 and for four people £305. One participant MUST be an adult if anyone under the age of 18 is taking part.

Little Nippers (term time only)

Don’t get crabby, come to little nippers on Tuesday mornings 9:30-11am for our fun-filled discovery and play sessions.

Suitable for children aged 2 and under. Enjoy a sing-a-long and story time in The Deep’s soft play area. Pay admission to The Deep once, and receive a Day Plus Pass which entitles you to visit as often as you like for free. Booking is not required. Simply turn up on the day. 

Adults pay standard entry for 12 months entry, plus £1 per session for your little nipper!

Tranquil Tuesday (term time only)

September 3, 2019

Join us on the first Tuesday of each month (TERM TIME ONLY) for Tranquil Tuesdays. From 3pm until closing the lights will be brighter and the audio turned down, creating a tranquil environment for our visitors.

This event is perfect for those who prefer to visit during a quieter and more peaceful environment. Everyone is welcome to attend. Normal admission rates apply and there is no need to book. 

We have a range of aids available to hire free of charge for visitors with access needs including ear defenders, Braille guides, large print guides, MP3 audio guides, international language leaflets, rollators, electric mobility scooters and wheelchairs. Make and Migrate with Marti!

This weekend we’re inviting all young budding artists to migrate to The Deep and get creative!

We’re celebrating the release of children’s book ‘Marti the Hammerhead Shark’ by Galapagos Conservation Trust, and supported by The Deep. It tells the tale of a young hammerhead shark on her first migration from the lagoons of the Galapagos Islands to Cocos island in Costa Rica, teaching children about the importance of protected migration paths for marine animals along the way.

Join the illustrator, Lisa Brown in Craft Corner between 11am and 3pm each day where she’ll help you to draw the characters from the book. You can also make a character badge to take home with you.

Don’t miss our fun, interactive presentations at 11am, 1pm and 3pm where we’ll explore magnificent migrations! Why do animals migrate, where is Marti going, and why might her journey be under threat?

Home Educators' Day

Take action and learn how animals are affected by plastics in our seas both locally and around the world. Help your youngsters become our eco-warriors.

Perfect for children aged 3-18 who are taught at home, there are a variety of workshops to choose from. Click here to see the workshop options. 

Places cost £7 per child and include 1 workshop (additional workshops cost £3). Adult places are £10.50 each for a single visit, or you can upgrade this ticket to a years entry for an extra £3.50. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Adults with a current Day Plus Pass can use this for free entry on this day (you will be asked for name and post code at time of booking). Pre booking is essential, full payment will be required at time of booking. Call 01482 381000 to book your place.
 

Quiet Day

Experience The Deep in a more tranquil environment on our upcoming Quiet Day.

The audio will be turned down for those who find the sounds distracting and the lights will be brighter to make our information more clear. Audio and Braille guides are also available free of charge at reception, the timetable below includes all BSL signed presentations and shows throughout the day!

Wedding Open Night

Are you on the lookout for a unique wedding venue? Then why not bob on down to our next wedding preview evening on Tuesday 17th September from 7:00pm to 8:45pm.

This is a great opportunity to view our iconic venue with our dedicated events team on hand to provide information and advice on what we can offer you for your special day.

Our amazing ceremony and reception spaces will be styled by Style My Venue Hull so you can really get a feel for how your celebration could look.

Beach Clean - FULLY BOOKED

The Deep is on the lookout for volunteers for our beach clean at Hessle Foreshore. This event is free to attend.

This event is part of the Marine Conservation Society's (MCS) Beachwatch, a nationwide annual beach clean-up and litter survey organised which takes place on beaches all over the UK. Each piece of litter collected is identified, weighed and recorded before being carefully disposed of. The data collected goes towards the Marine Conservation Society’s national survey, which is subsequently used to help raise public awareness of the impact of litter on the environment. 

Suitable for children aged 3 upwards, this is a great way of helping your local environment. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult at all times and will receive a free goody bag for taking part. Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and sturdy footwear on the day. Gloves and hand sanitiser will be provided on the day.

All Things Jelly

I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly… well we sure are, as we gear up to celebrate all things jelly this September.

Learn all about the species of jellyfish housed here at The Deep, as well as the threats they face in the wild. Take part in the fun-packed interactive presentation at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and get your face painted at Craft Corner between 11am and 4pm.

  • Open daily from 10am until 6pm. We are closed on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
  • Last admission is at 5pm, although we recommended you to arrive no later than 4pm
  • The Deep’s peak times are between 11am – 2pm, should you prefer a quieter environment please visit outside these times.
  • Car parking is available costing £3 for six hours. It can become full during school holidays. Alternative car parks can be found here
