Daily highlights

Join us and enjoy an extensive programme of daily activities.

Dive show

This takes place at at 2pm each day at Endless Oceans (Monday to Friday), the Lagoon of Light (Saturday) and the Amazon Flooded Forest (Sunday). Watch the video of our divers feeding the sharks here. Please note: the dive shows taking place on Tuesday and Thursday in the Endless Oceans tank are cleaning only. The animals are fed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Touchpool sessions

Handle some of our smaller species native to the UK at Dylans Discovery Corner including starfish, velvet swimmer crabs and sea urchins. These sessions take place at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Make sure you also try your hand at fossil brushing in this area as well as testing your skills on the interactive magic floor.

Penguin feeding

See our keepers hand feed the loveable Gentoo penguins in the Kingdom of Ice at 11.30am and 3.30pm every day. This is accompanied by a talk on the lower level of the enclosure, just through the ice tunnel, by one of our Guides who will explain more about the penguin's feeding and behaviour, as well as threats faced to penguins in the wild.

Sawfish Rostra Exhibition

Dates:
September 27, 2019 - April 1, 2020

This winter, visitors will have the opportunity to view a collection of historic sawfish rostra on loan from the Horniman Museum and Gardens.

The display highlights the current threats to the five recognised species of sawfish and their decline, including fishing and environmental changes. These are having a significant impact on sawfish numbers, resulting in them being listed as Endangered or Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List (International Union for Conservation of Nature).

Learn more about the Citizen Science Project which The Deep is involved in, called ‘See a Saw’. This has the aim of locating as many sawfish specimens around the world as possible to create a clearer picture of historical sizes, numbers and geographical ranges.
