North Cave Wetlands has been created just for wildlife, with specially-designed areas for birds, butterflies and more.
Highlights include the unmistakeable avocet, with the reserve home to one of the largest nesting colonies along the Humber. Majestic marsh harriers and speedy peregrine falcons drop in during winter, along with thousands of colourful ducks. The ponds and reedbeds welcome kingfishers and dragonflies, and spring and autumn brings the chance of a rare feathered visitor on migration. Look out for the hairy Highland cattle that sometimes help to keep the grass in check too!
