Become a citizen scientist for the day, and join us for an EGG-citing Shark Egg Case Hunt on Friday 1st August 2025 from 11am-1pm at Spurn Point Nature Reserve, in partnership with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust! This event is FREE of charge for both adults and children to take part.
Help us by getting involved and raising awareness of our native sharks and rays. Data recorded from these events is submitted to The Shark Trust as part of their Great Eggcase Hunt campaign, helping to pin-point exactly where sharks and skates are laying on the UK coastline and build a clearer understanding of species presence and diversity.
Useful Information:

- This event takes place outside so sturdy and waterproof footwear or wellies are recommended.
- Please meet at the Spurn Discovery Centre picnic area, in plenty of time before the event kicks off at 11am.
- There are toilets, including an accessible toilet, and baby changing facilities on site.
- There is also a café, picnic area and shop at the site.
- Parking is £5 per car for all day parking, or free of charge for Yorkshire Wildlife Trust members. This money goes directly back into managing and protecting Spurn!
- Unfortunately, there is no access for wheelchairs and pushchairs on the beach due to uneven terrain.
- No dogs are permitted.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.
