Please note - The Deep is at its busiest during school holidays and on Bank Holidays, particularly between the hours of 11am and 2pm. Please try to arrive outside these times where possible. The quietest visitor times are at 10am when we open or after 3pm.

Please enter the postcode HU9 1TU when using a Sat Nav. This will take you to Tower Street, Hull, which is the nearest main road to The Deep. The cost is £2 per vehicle for four hours. Please note parking for conference delegates is free of charge.

Buying your tickets online

When you have made your booking, you will be emailed a confirmation number. Simply bring the confirmation number along with you on the day of your visit and join the queue at the Main Entrance. Please note, we have a separate entrance for visitors with additional access needs and pre-organised groups of 10 or more - this is located nearest the Humber.

Tickets bought online still require you to join the main queue and only become active 1 hour after purchase. As part of the purchasing process you will have the flexibility to choose what date you want your 12 month Day Plus Pass to start from. This must begin on or before the date of your first visit. Our online booking system may not be compatible with some mobile devices. If you encounter any problems when buying your tickets, please contact us on 01482 381000.

Where too many tickets have been purchased (or where a customer may have duplicated an entire purchase), refunds are available. These can be processed by the finance department during the office hours of Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm on 01482 381000, option 6.

Children = 3 - 15 years (under 3s are free).

Students must be in full time education and are asked to please bring valid student ID (NUS or University card) with you or proof of age if you are a school or Sixth form student.

Bag Searches

For the safety and reassurance of visitors, The Deep reserves the right to carry out random bag searches at reception. If possible, and in order to avoid delays, please avoid bringing large bags and rucksacks in to the building.

The Day Plus Pass

Did you know that you can pay once, and get up to 360 days FREE entry with our Day Plus Pass? All you need to do is provide your details at reception. This will allow you and your party free entry to The Deep for 12 months (conditions and exclusions apply). The Day Plus Pass scheme also gives you the option to Gift Aid your entry if you are able. This does not cost you a penny but allows us to claim an additional 25p from the UK Government for every £1 of your admission. The Deep would be very grateful if you are able to Gift Aid your admission as it would help support our charitable conservation and education work.

Summer parking restrictions

During the summer months, car parking will be limited on The Deeps site. This is due to the 'marking out' and initial excavation work, as part of Hull City Council's South blockhouse project on the gravel car park to the left of the site.

From 17 to 24 July, they will mark out and interpret the ruins on the site, which will coincide with the Council for British Archaeology’s Festival of Archaeology. At the end of August, the site will be dug up to expose the ruined walls as part of the national Heritage Open Days.

Throughout this period we will be working hard to ensure visits are not disrupted, but some visitors will have to use alternative car parks in the city. All of the available car parks close by can be seen here. If you require any further assistance, please contact the team on 01482 38100. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Safety Update

The Deep takes the safety and security of its staff and visitors seriously and continue to work with Counter Terrorism Police Officers to review security regimes on a regular basis. Whilst the details of such plans cannot be shared we have in place measures to respond to changes in the threat levels for international terrorism. In light of recent events the security within the building and external spaces has been reviewed.

As per Government guidelines more information on how to play your part can be found on line.
